Saidel Brito Lorenzo, visual artist and professor at the University of the Arts of Guayaquil and the Universidad Casa Grande. Co-author and former Rector of ITAE.
b. in 1973 in Matanzas, Cuba; Ecuadorian by naturalization, he has resided in Ecuador since 1998.

Saidel Brito Lorenzo, visual artist and educator. Professor at the University of the Arts in Guayaquil and Universidad Casa Grande. Co-author and former Rector of ITAE. He has held 19 solo exhibitions, including: El hermano pueblo (A Brief Retrospective), 2023; Carta a Barradas, 2021; Curul, 2016; Ruinas del Relato, 2011; and Nacidos Vivos, 2008, at Dpm Gallery, and Utopías provisionales, Ludwig Forum, Aachen, Germany, 1998. Among his more than 80 group exhibitions, notable ones include the 10th Mercosur Biennial, Porto Alegre, Brazil, 2015; X and VI International Biennial of Cuenca, Ecuador, 2009 and 1998; Valencia Biennial, Spain, Killing Time, Exit Art, New York, and 5th The(S)files Biennial, El Museo del Barrio, New York, 2007; Waiting List, Slovenia, 2006; Los Angeles Biennial, Los Angeles, USA, 2001; Tras la pérdida de las colonias, Museo Extremeño e Iberoamericano de Arte Contemporáneo, Badajoz, Spain / Museo de Artes de Ponce, Puerto Rico / Cultural Center, Manila, Philippines, 2000-1998; and New art from Cuba, Whitechapel Art Gallery, London, England, in 1995. In 2003 and 2005, he participated in the Salón de Julio, winning the first and third prizes respectively. He was awarded the prize of the X Biennial of Cuenca in 2009.
